I worked as a hospital attendant for about a year at Sno-Wood Veterinary Clinic, where I first got my paws on a wide assortment of animals. We boarded a green ig there that was incredibly spoiled. We soaked her daily, took her for walks in the clinic, etc. She was a very nice ig and that got me back to wanting another, but not a green, as they are so large and so high-maintenance.

We began researching beardies first, but they were so expensive, so we decided against getting one and elected for an ig instead. While pet-store scrounging, we discovered Desert Iguanas. Desert igs are smaller, and only get about 12" in length including tail. Ours thinks he's hot stuff, but he's so tiny that he can't really do anything to you. He scrambles all over his tank and isn't all that friendly, but he is certainly interesting for the kitties to stare at. Socks stalks him through the glass on a regular basis.

He's interesting. We catch him every now and then and handle him, but mostly just let him be.
