"I'm not fat, I'm fluffy!" Well, ok... He's since taken off quite a bit of weight. Cartman now weighs a nice 67lbs, and gets lots of excercise 'herding dogs' in the back yard. No, I'm not kidding. He literally herds the other dogs at our house! My mom & I went to evaluate an aussie reported at the Everett Shelter. I liked him so much, that I came back just as soon as his time was up and brought him on home. Supposedly we were going to keep him for the night and then transfer him to his new foster home.. Only, it didn't work out that way. Damn sucker light. We were, at that time, fostering GSDs and had a house full. This little guy was just so nice, pleasant, and so timid that he got the priveledge of sleeping right at the foot of the bed. And by the next day, he had wormed his way into our heads & hearts that we ended up calling and saying "Aussie, what aussie? We didn't bail an aussie!" Yeah, so we failed fostering 101... or whatever number he was. Poor pup was covered in mats and stunk something awful. After his bath and several exstensive grooming sessions, he finally started looking like a normal sized dog. Pre-grooming he was so large (read: automan-esque) and burping from the bad diet that we had to name him Cartman. It's fitting. He literally danced and bounced all the way to the car when I went to pick him up, something he does to this day. Every time he sees the leash, he groans, does several 'body smiles' and nearly trips over himself trying to get out the door. He then checks every car on the way to see if that's the one he gets to get in. No trouble with this one running off, just check the nearest car! He loves our cats and is very protective of them. He gets along famously with all the dogs he's met and he and Shrek are great buddies. Absolutley perfect for our family! |
