Arrival Story:

I work as a veterinary assistant one day a week at the Exotic Pet & Bird Clinic in Kirkland. I met the neatest bird there, an African Grey named Charlie. He said all sorts of things, and when he was feeling ornery, well, you should just watch your fingers.

Not having been around birds much, it took a while, but I learned to really like them. I let it slip one day that I really liked Charlie. Shortly after, one of the assistants at the clinic came across a Grey in need of a new home while he was looking to get an injured owl into wildlife rehab. Turns out Bogie had been surrendered there and was trying his best to eat his neighbors... which wasn't a good situation for anybody.

So, home he came, with very little arm-twisting. I annouced to Geoff that he was coming home and that was that. Geoff still maintains he doesn't like him, but I see him over there talking to Bogie and bobbing his head at him. Cracks me up!

Bogie didn't know how to step up when he arrived, and was very timid around humans. He still isn't so great about the stepping up, and *hates* "Mr. Towel" with a passion, but he does great once he's out on your hand. He says Hello and keeps us entertained with his vampire antics and sonic whistles. He bobs his head at new people, calls and yells at the dogs and screams at the neon fly swatter. That's his only real nemesis. Occasionally one of his toys will say something naughty to him, and Bogie will give the toy what-for, and put it back in its place. :)

He's a nut, and we so enjoy him. I'll get some pictures when he lets his feathers come in completely. He got all stressed out and plucked many of them out, but is slowly growing them in and leaving them alone.
